Favour Agbanusi has built a reputation for treating fashion as something deeply personal. As Senior Creative Director at Zibura, she shapes pieces that are less about trends and more about connection. Her work blends quiet confidence with precise detail, creating designs that feel as if they were made for the person wearing them. In this conversation, she speaks about the role of meaning in design, the enduring appeal of quiet luxury, and why the most interesting fashion is the kind that becomes part of someone’s life.

Q: Zibura has a very distinct identity. When you are designing, what is the first thing you think about?
A: I start with the story. A piece has to come from a place of meaning before it can take shape. I will sit with an idea for days or even weeks, asking myself what feeling I want someone to carry when they own it. It could be about connection, a moment in time, or even a detail I noticed on the street that stayed with me. Once that core is clear, the materials, shapes, and proportions start to align naturally. People can sense when something is made this way. It feels intentional, not rushed.

Q: The way you talk about design sounds like you are describing a relationship. Do you see it that way?
A: Absolutely. Every piece we make at Zibura is meant to build a relationship with its owner. You might not notice every detail at first. A certain stitch, a subtle curve, the way the clasp feels when it closes. Over time, those details become familiar, like the way you know someone’s voice without them saying their name. That is when the piece stops being something you bought and starts becoming part of you.

Q: In your opinion, what separates something that is simply beautiful from something that is truly personal?
A: Beauty can be instant. You see it, you like it, you want it. Personal is different. Personal is when the piece fits into your life and starts holding memories. Maybe you wore it on an important day. Maybe it was with you when you felt your best or when you needed the confidence to walk into a room. That connection is invisible to everyone else but it means everything to you.

Q: Quiet luxury is a big part of Zibura’s appeal. What does that mean to you?
A: Quiet luxury is about confidence without noise. It is about not needing to shout to be seen. A well-proportioned design, a perfect seam, the right weight in your hand — those things say more than a logo ever could. It is not about hiding. It is about speaking directly to the person who is meant to hear it.

Q: Your brand talks a lot about meaning. Why is meaning so important in fashion?
A: Without meaning, it is just decoration. Decoration fades. Meaning stays. Fashion can carry who you are, what you value, and even what you hope for. When someone chooses to wear Zibura, I want them to feel like they are carrying a piece of their own story, not just something that happens to be trending that month.

Q: Do you think the future of fashion is truly personal?
A: Yes, and I think we are already seeing it. People are tired of chasing trends that disappear in six months. They are buying fewer but better pieces. They are asking different questions before they spend. Not “is it in” but “will I still love this in five years”. That is the shift. It is a healthier and more sustainable way to enjoy fashion.

Q: What do you hope people feel when they wear Zibura?
A: I hope they feel like it is theirs. Like it belongs to them in a way that no one else can touch. I hope they notice details over time and feel quietly proud of owning something made with care. More than anything, I hope they wear it until it feels inseparable from their own story.
